How to install a plugin

A one-minute walkthrough

0:00 / 1:00
We'll walk through installing an approved AI Forge plugin into Claude Cowork in a couple of clicks. No commands, no terminal.
Then do it yourself

Step by step.

0/4 done
  1. Open Cowork on your laptop

Sign in to Claude Cowork the way you normally do. AI Forge plugins are published to your Valsoft organisation by the reviewer, so you don't need GitHub, you don't need any setup, you don't need to know what a plugin is.

If you don't have Cowork installed yet, your IT team can set it up. Cowork is licensed to Valsoft already.
  2. Open the Directory

Click the plus sign next to Organization plugins in your sidebar, or open the Directory from the menu. A dialog opens listing every plugin available to you.

If you can't see the Directory option, your account isn't enrolled in the Valsoft Enterprise org yet. Message the reviewer.
  3. Switch to Your organization

Three tabs sit across the top of the Directory: Your organization, Anthropic & Partners, Personal. Click Your organization. You'll see every AI Forge plugin sitting there.

This tab only shows plugins the reviewer has approved and published, so everything in it is vetted.
  4. Find the plugin you want, hit Install

Scroll through the list, or search by name. When you find what you need, click Install. Cowork sets it up. Some plugins ask you for a credential or two on first run (like an Outlook tenant ID); just answer the prompts.

Installed plugins appear under Organization plugins in your left sidebar. Click the plugin to use it.

Things people ask

Do I need GitHub or any technical setup?

No. Everything you install through the Cowork Directory has already been packaged and published for you. You don't need a GitHub account, you don't need to run any commands, you don't need to know what a plugin folder is.

Where do credentials go?

Plugin credentials stay on your machine. The customizer asks you for them on first run (e.g. an Outlook tenant ID, a Teams webhook URL). The marketplace never sees them.

What if a plugin breaks?

Each plugin ships with a diagnostic prompt. Trigger "this isn't working" in Claude and your local Claude walks you through the fix. Core and Approved plugins also have a maintainer on the hook.

Can I share something I've built?

Yes. Hit Submit, drag your folder in, fill in a few fields. The scrubber strips credentials in your browser. Once the reviewer approves it, it's available to every Cowork user across the portfolio.

Power-user alternative

If you're a developer with Claude Code CLI and direct access to the Valsoft GitHub org, you can still /plugin marketplace add the curated repo and install from the command line. The Cowork Directory path is the default and is what we recommend for everyone else.
